Luke 2:16-18 says, 'So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.' This is the real reason we celebrate Christmas. Yes, the lights and the gifts and the songs make it fun, but we wouldn't have any of it without the birth of Jesus. Although we can get lost in all the goings on of the Christmas season, we must always remember the true reason behind celebrating.
The best thing we can do at Christmas is decorate ourselves – our hearts, souls and spirits – with the love of God and spread good tidings of great joy to the people we meet each day.
